Build Information
What Can I Have Built?
This page contains information that is important for you to know if you'd like to commission a build. We start by offering three "trims". These trims will largely decide the cost and timeframe of your build, and also will decide the availability of your other build options. The next step is picking out a donor body and donor chassis. Once you've figured that out, now you decide what options from both you'd like to retain and which ones you want gone. This will give you a good idea of what your build will look like and helps us get your build moving sooner.
Build "Trims"
-
Base
Base Model builds are anything but. You will retain your donor body floorboards and firewall, interior, and dash. We update some features such as adding A/C, a new style steering column, SuperCab rear seats (for Crew Cab builds), and can put in upholstered or aftermarket seats. This keeps your build timeframe and cost low, and give you a twist on the original feel of your pickup.
-
Half-Firewall
With Half-Firewall swaps, we graft the new floorboards and most of your new firewall to your old cab. We retain the old dash. This allows you to have new style seats, console, and a completely custom interior. We graft as many new features into the old dash as possible, meaning you get new style HVAC controls, infotainment systems, and convinences without completely giving up your old-school feel.
-
Full-Firewall
In Full-Firewall swaps, we graft the old cab onto the new firewall and floorboard in it's entirety. You will receive the new model dash, seats, and functionality in full with the old school exterior styling. The interior is modified slightly to make it seamless in an older body, but you will have all new features of your truck with a classic exterior.
Body Donors in Stock
-
61-66 "Slick-Side"
We have multiple single and crew cab bodies on hand, including unibodies, cab-and-bed pickups, and F600s. These are some of the rarest crew cabs as only ~400 factory crew cabs were built. This will be the most costly option in a crew, but otherwise about the same as the Bumpside and Dentside in other configurations.
-
67-72 "Bumpside"
The first generation to include the iconic "Highboy" f250s, we keep as many of single, crew, and f600 bodies on hand as possible. Crew Cabs started becoming more common in this generation, but were still rare. The interior grew from the previous generation, so 67 and newer cabs are ideal for people that absolutely need the room. This would be your middle of the road in terms of cost for a crew cab.
-
73-79 "Dentside"
Dentsides proved to be very popular and were produced in very high numbers. The 75 model year also brought with it the "Super Cab". We stock many single, super, and crew cabs in this body style and also have multiple f600 bodies as well. We do have a few Broncos from time to time. This is the cheapest, most spacious body style for a crew cab build.
Can you stretch the cab?
For the absolute most possible space in any style cab, we can stretch the cab. This raises your cost significantly but will give you the super-roomy feel of a new truck. We choose to stretch the doors instead of just the cab, so your pickup will look proportional instead of having a blank space behind the rear doors.
Chassis Donors
-
F150
F150 based builds allow you to enjoy your classic pickup with ease and comfort. These will ride and handle very comfortably, and will still be capable of doing some work. These make excellent donors for a hot-rod build.
We recommend using a 2018 and newer chassis to take advantage of the 10 speed transmission. Engine choices include a 5.0L Coyote V8, a 3.5L V6 EcoBoost, and the 3.0L V6 Powerstroke. 5.0's tend to be the more popular option, as we do offer them in a supercharged package for those wanting to go the extra mile.
-
F250/F350/F450 Super Duty
Super Duty based builds give you a workhorse. These tend to be the most popular option for builds as they give a good mix of power, torque, and payload. Whether its a weekend boat hauler, work truck, camper hauler, or grocery getter, these will do it all. We almost exclusively build on 2020+ platforms as this gives you access to a 10 speed transmission, and options for a 7.3L V8, 6.2L V8, and both standard and high output variants of the 6.7L Powerstroke. The superduty platform is extremely popular and allows for almost any aftermarket modifications such as lift kits, super-single conversions, and even hydraulic based suspension that rides like a 1/2 ton truck.
-
Raptor
Ford's Raptor platform is the king when it comes to factory capable trucks. With extremely good power, great handling, supple suspension, and almost every desirable option, Raptor based builds will be a riot anywhere they go. We recommend using 2011-2014 (Gen 1) or 2023+ (gen 3) for most builds. Gen 1 Raptors come with a 6 speed transmission and a 6.2L V8. They can be had in both a base model and optioned out, and make a long lasting powerplant with endless aftermarket. Gen 3 builds can take advantage of a 10 speed transmission, Fox Live Valve shocks, and a unique 5-link rear suspension. We recommend optioning the 5.2L V8 included in the Raptor R package on these trucks, but Ecoboosts can be done as well.
Engine Options
-
3.5L EcoBoost
3.5 Ecoboost motors are a twin-turbo gasoline V6. They have a very nice powerband with lots of low end torque, and make a good economy engine. We steer away from these motors only for reliability. New Ecoboosts are very potent for their size, and most of their issues have been resolved. These can be found in most F150s and most Gen 2 and Gen 3 Raptors.
-2018-2020 F150: 375hp and 470lb-ft
-2021-2024 F150: 400hp and 500lb-ft
-2017-2024 Raptor: 450hp and 510lb-ft
-
5.0L/5.2L Coyote/Predator
The 5.0L Coyote, and it's high horse derivative, the 5.2L Predator, are both extremely reliable V8 engines produced by Ford. They use a dual overhead cam design to allow for a good powerband and extreme volumetric efficiency. 5.0L can be found in most any variation of an F150, and 5.2's are exclusive to the Raptor R variant. 5.0's are a great option for a hot-rod or build on a budget, as they are plentiful and leave room to grow. 5.2's are the top dog when it comes to a 1/2 ton build, and make great hearts for an all-out build.
2018-2024 F150 (5.0): 395hp and 400lb-ft
2023-2024 Raptor R (5.2): 700(2023)/720(2024) hp and 640 lb-ft
-
7.3 Godzilla
Ford's newest pushrod V8, the 7.3 Godzilla is a venerable option for any type of build. WIth a good powerband, lots of low end torque, and decent efficiency, these make great workhorses or daily drivers. Exclusive to the Super Duty lineup, these can be found in any f250/f350 from 2020 up.
2020-2024: 430hp and 475 lb-ft
-
6.7 Powerstroke
The 6.7 Powerstroke is Ford's bread and butter when it comes to heavy duty pickups. Producing up to 500 hp and 1200 lb-ft of torque in it's stock form, 6.7s are nothing to laugh at. These make an excellent option for a tow pig or an all-out rig.
-
3.0L Powerstroke
3.0L Powerstrokes are a less popular option for F150 builds. They are fantastic on fuel and make great low end torque. These make an excellent commuter or weekend warrior build. These engines are fairly reliable, very torquey, but lack in the modern horsepower department. For that reason we recommend most people to steer towards a 5.0 in most cases. We do not stock this engine, so a donor will nee to be sourced and 3.0's are not common.
2018-2021 F150: 250hp and 440 lb-ft
-
6.2L Boss
First found in the 2010-2014 Raptors, 6.2's make a fantastic engine for pulling or fun. 6.2's are incredibly reliable and can be found in gen 1 raptors and 2018-2022 Super Duties as well.
2011-2014 Raptor: 411hp and 434 lb-ft
2018-2022 Super Duty: 385 hp and 430 lb-ft
Options
Can I add a Supercharger or Turbocharger to my build?
Absolutely! We are happy to add any performance packages or the like of your choosing. It's important we know up front, as we may have to do additional fabrication work to make sure everything fits properly in the old body.
Can I get suspension work done?
Yes! We are a dealer for One Up Offroad, and can get you set up with a new lift. If you have another lift brand, want long travel suspension, or just different shocks, we are happy to work with you and get it done how you want it.
What features can I keep off the new truck?
Almost anything can be kept from the newer chassis. Adaptive Cruise, Co-Pilot, Lane Assist, Power Locks and Windows, Remote Start, HUD, you name it. The only thing we cannot currently transplant is the pillar and curtain airbags, as it isn't safe in an older, smaller cab.
